Fears and Phobias

Fear, on the whole, is a normal and healthy response that is based upon our survival instinct and is generally an assessment made by the rational, intellectual mind that quickly determines whether there is an impending threat involved to our well being. If so caution is engaged, preventative action taken or potential avoidance becomes an alternative but, again, this is done rationally, assertively and often with success. A fear response can be the result of a traumatic or painful experience too and this gets lodged into subconscious programming or it can be the result of learnt behaviour that often goes back to our informative years.

However, when we are stressed or anxious it is very easy to become over sensitive, negative and pessimistic about outcomes that puts us squarely into the primitive mind, negatively forecasting or retrospecting , that only adds to the anxious state  becoming over reactive and disproportionate in  response to the perception of fear.

A phobic response is defined as an exaggerated and overwhelming response of fear to an object or situation that is persistent and last longer than 6 months. Phobic responses can be debilitating and great lengths are taken to avoid this triggered response.

Solution focused hypnotherapy can be very successful in the treatment of fears and phobias, reducing stress and anxiety, reprogramming and rewriting the subconscious fear or phobic programs by using hypnotherapy and re employing the rational, intellectual, assertive mind ( left pre fontal cortex ) to make alternate choices and decisions.
